Connected by mountains and rivers, China and Myanmar enjoys a long-term trade and culture exchange, which is based on common language. Chinese journalists visited Myanmar to explore China-Myanmar Economic Cooperation from April 28 to May 4. During their visit, they learned that a craze for Chinese learning was emerging in Myanmar due to the boost of The Belt and Road Initiative.
Myanmar has become a popular destination for Chinese tourists, second only to Thailand.The moment they landed at Mandalay International Airport, the journalists felt the direct exchange between the languages of the two countries. Signs in the airport are bilingual. The staff members in airport, hotel, restaurants, scenic spots and markets are able to speak simple Chinese.
The promotion of The Belt and Road Initiative has generated an increase of tourists in bordering regions. It is learned that Chinese visitors to Myanmar is increasing year by year.

During the interview, the journalists learned that people who can speak Chinese were very popular in Myanmar . In many recruitmentnotices, it is emphaticallystated that “Applicants who know Chinese enjoy priority”. some entrepreneurs interviewed expressed their strong demand for employees who know Chinese. Li Bobo, the presiding chairman of Myanmar-China Friendly Exchange Association, maintains, “China is Myanmar’s largest trade partner. With the development of cooperation and exchange, the need for person who can speak Chinese is soaring.”
